1.0 Introduction
Accushield is a technology company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, which focuses on providing hardware and software to automate health screening, badge printing and sign-in processes for our customers. Accushield software also provides features that support infection prevention and control, reputation management, healthcare compliance reporting, staffing, and facility communication.
This Privacy Policy is applicable to Accushield (“we,” “our,” or “us”) as related to our services, which collectively include:
- the use of our website (“website”)
- the use of the application websites (“application”) and any associated subdomains
- social media messages and marketing campaigns and
- the use of our products and services.
This Privacy Policy details the personal information we collect about you. Note that we mostly collect personal information on behalf of a customer, but there may be times where both we and the customer have independent or joint control of personal information (for example, the collection of an email address). So, we encourage you to also review the privacy policy of our customers.
The categories of personal information we collect will vary depending upon whether your relationship with Accushield is as:
- An end user of the application (“end user”), including staff, residents, patients, clinicians, service providers, visitors to customer facilities, or individuals required to use the application by our customer.
- A website visitor
- Representatives of our customers or third-party vendors
2.0 Personal Information We Collect
The personal information about you that we collect includes information within the below categories of data.
If you are an end user, we generally collect the following categories of personal information:
Data Category
- Identifiers such as a real name, alias, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier Internet Protocol address, email address, account name, driver’s license number, or other similar identifiers.
- Information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is capable of being associated with, a particular individual, including, but not limited to, your name, signature, physical characteristics or description, address, telephone number, driver’s license or government-issued identification card number, insurance policy number.
- Geolocation data.
- Audio, electronic, visual, thermal, or similar information.

Note that our customers may opt to enable our biometric data collection technology. (e.g., photographs, fingerprint, palm print, retina scan, etc.). If you consent to this collection of biometrics, as a service provider to our customers we will obtain your biometric data for the purpose of allowing you to access your account more readily and physically access the customer’s facility. From this biometric data, our technology derives certain data and measurements to allow our systems to identify you. Your biometric data and any information or data derived from that biometric data will be stored for the earlier of the time at which the purpose of the initial collection has been satisfied or three (3) years from your last interaction with our solution. In addition, your biometric data and information or data derived from that biometric data will be stored and transmitted for the purposes stated above, while taking all reasonable protections and using the same level of care as is done with all sensitive and personal information. If you are a website user, we generally collect the following categories of personal information:

If you choose to provide us with a third-party’s personal information (the person’s name, email, and company) when taking part in our referral program, you represent that you have the third-party’s permission to do so.
Information We Collect Automatically
We collect information about your visits to the website and the application when you land on any of our web pages through cookies and similar tracking technology.

Our application and services
If you are an end user of our application, your personal information may be viewed by other users with access to the application.
Service provider
We use third parties to help us provide our services. They will have access to your information as collected by the website or the application, as necessary to perform the contracted tasks on our behalf. We sign contractual agreements to obligate them to protect the personal information, only use it to deliver the contracted services to us, prohibit them from selling it and not disclose it without our knowledge and permission.
Our customers
Customers whose facilities you access may have access to your personal information.
Third Parties to who personal information may be sold or with who personal information may be shared for cross contextual behavioral advertising or other service offerings.
We may share your name, email, phone number, as well as the name of employer and any professional licensing with third parties who use the data for cross contextual behavioral advertising.
If you are a provider of services or a clinician, we may also sell your name, email, phone number, name of employer, and professional licensing information to third parties pursuant to our contractual agreements so that they can contact you with service offers.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to opt-out of the sale or such sharing of your personal information for cross context behavioral advertising. Marketing
We, or one of our contracted third-party partners, may use your personal information to inform you of products or services that may be of interest to you and to otherwise communicate with you about offerings, events and news, surveys, special offers, and related topics. As noted in this Privacy Policy, you may choose to receive or not receive marketing communications from us. Legal disclosures
It is possible that we may need to disclose personal information when required by law, subpoena or other legal processes as identified in the applicable legislation.
We attempt to notify our clients about legal demands for their personal data when appropriate in our judgment unless prohibited by law or when the request is an emergency.
Change in Control
We can also share your personal data as part of a sale, merger, change in control or in preparation for any of these events.
Any other entity which buys us, or part of our business will have the right to continue to use your data, but only in the manner set out in this Privacy Policy unless you agree otherwise.

We are committed to protecting the security of all the personal information we collect, use and store, including biometric information.

6.0 Rights
Subject to certain exceptions, and depending on your residency, you may be entitled to the following rights over personal information we collect for our own purposes as defined in Section 2.0 above, including:
- Right to Know – You may be entitled to request that we disclose to your personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which we collected the information, the purposes of collecting the information, the categories of third parties with whom we have shared the information, the categories of personal information that we have shared with third parties for a business purpose, the categories of information sold, and the categories of third parties information is sold to. In some instances, you may have the right to receive the information about you in a portable and readily usable format.
- Right to Opt-Out – You may have the right to opt-out of information sharing that constitutes “selling” or “sharing” personal information.
- Right to Limit –You may have the right to direct us to limit our use of your sensitive personal information to certain purposes.
- Right to Deletion – Subject to certain conditions, you are entitled to request that we delete personal information about you. We cannot delete personal information about you when the information is required to fulfill a legal obligation, is necessary to exercise or defend legal claims, or where we are required or permitted to retain the information by law. For example, we cannot delete certain personal information about you while continuing to provide you with certain products and services or where we are legally required to retain certain information.
- Right to Correction – You may be entitled to request that we correct inaccurate personal information. We will not correct personal information about you when the information is required to fulfill a legal obligation, is necessary to exercise or defend legal claims, or where we are required or permitted to retain the information as-is by law.
- Right against discrimination— Accushield will not discriminate against an individual for exercising any rights under applicable privacy law.

Data solely retained for data backup purposes is principally excluded from these rights until it is restored to an active system or next accessed or used for a sale, disclosure, or commercial purpose.
Before providing information, you request in accordance with these rights, we must be able to verify your identity. To verify your identity, you will need to submit information about yourself, including your name, contact information, answers to security questions and other reasonable information we request. We will match this information against information we have previously collected about you or provided to you to verify your identity and your request. If we are unable to verify your identity as part of your request, we will not be able to satisfy your request. We are not obligated to collect additional information to enable you to verify your identity. For deletion requests, you will be required to submit a verifiable request for deletion and then confirm separately that you want personal information about you deleted.
If you would like to appoint an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, you must provide the agent with written, signed permission to submit privacy right requests on your behalf. Alternatively, your authorized agent may provide evidence of having power of attorney or acting as a conservator for you. Note that we may require you to verify your identity with us directly before we provide any requested information to your authorized agent unless your authorized agent has power of attorney or acts as a conservator, in which case we will not contact you directly.

Rights with our Customers
Our customers can configure the Accushield solutions to collect additional personally identifiable information (“PII”, e.g., employment information, professional credentials) and personal health information (“PHI”, e.g., vaccination information, biometric data, health conditions, health screening, etc.). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of our customers. Please reach out directly to our customer(s) if you have concerns about their use of the data collected based on their product configurations.
7.0 How Long We Keep Your Personal Information
We retain information as long as it is necessary to provide the services to you and our clients, subject to any legal obligations to further retain such information. Generally, except as required by law, our retention period is seven (7) years.
We may also retain information to comply with the law, prevent fraud, collect fees, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce our Terms of Service, and take other actions permitted by law.
The information we retain will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information connected to you that is no longer necessary and relevant to provide our services may be de-identified or aggregated with other non-personal data. This information may provide insights that are commercially valuable to Accushield, such as statistics of the use of the services.
8.0 Other Important Information
We reserve the right to change, amend, or update this Privacy Policy. If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post the revised Privacy Policy on this website or in a manner through which we regularly interact with you.
We process and store data in Canada and rely on legally provided mechanisms to lawfully transfer data across borders, such as contracts incorporating data protection and sharing obligations. We provide the capability for the return, transfer and/or disposal of personal data in a secure manner.
We will only collect and process your personal data where we have a lawful reason for its collection.
When you visit our website and provide us with your personal information, you provide your explicit consent for us to collect and use it as described in this Privacy Policy.
As an application end user, you consent to our collection of your personal information when you log in for the first time. However, if you are an employee of a customer serviced by our application, your employer may have control of the account and may upload and share additional personal information. Your employer’s responsibility is to ensure that collecting, using, and sharing the personal information uploaded to the application complies with all applicable legislation.

9.0 Do Not Track
On our website, we have implemented a cookie “door” to ensure your cookie preferences and any preferences entered through our applications are honored, and thus we do not sell or share or sell your information derived from cookies or applications for cross context behavioral advertising without your consent. We also have tools in place to better detect and honor requests made using the Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) signal as requests to opt-out of the sharing of personal information to the extent required by applicable law.
