Let us be your New Year Resolution – Respirator Fit Test Management

As we move into 2023, we are focused on replacing outdated processes with innovation, automation, and simplicity especially with our newest feature now available.

Let us be your new year’s resolution! Today, Accushield is providing a new tool to perform, organize, and digitize your respirator mask fit tests. (AND if the holidays broke the bank, we’re giving it away for free for a limited time to all customers of our Document Management feature!)

Why is this important?

Now is the time to start thinking about ways that you can help improve compliance while creating operational efficiencies and protecting the lives of those you serve.

Respirator Protection is the second most cited OSHA violation for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. A respirator’s effectiveness in preventing airborne and droplet transmission of infectious diseases is so critical that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) created a respirator protocol. This protocol specifies that all healthcare workers must be fit-tested upon hire and annually re-tested to ensure appropriate fit and protection.

Accushield’s Respirator Fit Test will allow you to effectively manage your mask fit program with pre-built OSHA requirements to identify and track respirator needs. You’ll be able to easily document the types of masks each staff member needs to ensure the safety of your building as well as identify the next fit-test date to ensure OSHA compliance. Outdated paper logs and excel spreadsheets are now replaced with digital documenting and tracking that allows you to immediately provide detailed reports which is a surveyor’s dream come true!

Product Details

You will be able to configure the types of masks from a NIOSH certified default list, select the manufacturers that you normally order, and create a respirator mask fit test record to capture the appropriate data for staff members.

In Just a Few Simple Steps – Be OSHA Compliant

  1. Upon hire, staff members are required to undergo various Respirator Fit Tests

  2. Open Accushield, and start your respirator fit testing

    1. You can select a staff member, and we will log all tests regardless of passing or failed attempts. Please note, you can submit multiple records for different types of masks as long as the most recent fit test is valid. Additionally, you can upload medical evaluations and exemptions

  3. Once the appropriate mask is identified, it is documented in the staff record for easy reference

  4. The approved fit-tested mask is then worn in accordance with the facility’s personal protective equipment (PPE) policy

  5. The staff member is re-tested annually, but no later than 364 days after the last test. Alerts will remind you to retest when it is due!

Time for a new test?

Notifications are sent via email or text message to staff that are in charge of managing the respirator mask fit program. Auto-responses are also sent to individual staff members to remind them that their respirator mask fit re-test is due. These notifications can be configured to be received through emails as well as texts.
