The Heart Behind the Technology
In 2011, while managing an assisted living community in Atlanta, I realized our visitor paper sign-in log was more than just an administrative burden – it was a liability. Families, vendors, and private caregivers moved through our halls every day, yet when a daughter asked, “Who was with my mom yesterday?” I had no answer. In that moment, it became clear that this wasn’t just a paperwork problem; it was a fundamental breakdown in trust.
That realization led to the founding of Accushield in 2013. Alongside my co-founder, Allen Barnes, we saw that digitizing the sign-in process could do far more than improve security. We built a platform designed to unlock powerful, dormant data, transforming every entry into meaningful insight. By streamlining sign-in, capturing real-time family feedback, and validating third-party caregiver credentials, the front desk evolved from a checkpoint into a powerful operational asset.
Critically, Accushield extends visibility from who entered the building to what clinical care was delivered. By tracking third-party care delivery, we enable transparent care coordination and close the gap between access and accountability. What started as a simple front-desk fix became a mission: to create safer and more connected senior living communities.

That experience led me to found Accushield in 2013 with a simple mission: replace paper logs with a digital way to create safer, more accountable senior living and healthcare environments. Today, that mission remains unchanged – helping communities protect the people who matter most.
